Areas of Practice
Asset Oriented.
Peterson & Peterson is an "asset firm" in that almost all of our practice areas are related in one way or another to the acquisition, protection, and distribution of assets, whether in the form of mutual funds, real estate, or closely-held business.
The primary areas in which we practice are Estates and Probate, Business, and Real Estate. Our emphasis is transactional, rather than litigation oriented. We strive to help clients through advising, planning, and contracting, in order to avoid costly, stressful, and disruptive legal disputes.
Estate Planning
We help our clients develop or update estate plans by drafting the most appropriate and cost effective combination of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other legal documents. From basic estates to tax planned and cutting edge plans, Peterson & Peterson will turn your goals into a legal reality.
Business Law
For clients owning or starting a business, we assist with the proper choice of entity and tax planning, preparation and filing of documents with the Texas Secretary of State, Internal Revenue Service, and other governmental entities. Other common activities include drafting or reviewing sales or employment contracts, guidance in matters of corporate governance such as holding annual meetings and preparing minutes, as well as in issuing stock and making sure all securities laws are obeyed. Promissory notes and security agreements are also regularly prepared for individual or company loans. Peterson & Peterson will be your partner for advice and guidance without taking a share of the ownership.
Real Estate Transactions
Whether you are buying or selling, giving or renting, Peterson & Peterson can provide real estate transactions advice and prepare or review the required contracts. We regularly prepare and review deeds, leases, promissory notes, deeds of trust (mortgages), easements, and releases of lien. Whatever your role, we will make sure the deal you negotiate is the deal you receive.
